Cisco Switch monitoring and management plugin
Verax NMS Cisco Switch management plugin allows easy monitoring, alerting, health check, management and performance reporting of Cisco Systems' switches via Cisco SNMP MIBs.
General information view
The view presents general configuration information about a switch such as:- Hardware configuration: model, serial number and name
- Firmware version, uptime, last change dates for running and startup configurations
- All system parameters for the switch.

Interfaces view
The view presents summary for all interfaces present on the switch including:
- Index, description, type (e.g. Ethernet, virtual), physical address, administration and operational statuses.
- Detailed parameter list for each interface, such as MTU, speed, in/out octets, etc.
- All interfaces with problems are highlighted for easy troubleshooting.
Modules view
The view presents summary for all modules (e.g. expansion cards) present to the system including:
- Index, model, name, serial number and status (OK or not working).
- Detailed parameter list for each module (e.g. moduleHWversion, moduleType, etc.).
- All modules with problems are highlighted for easy troubleshooting.
Performance view
The performance view allows to monitor processes running on the switch and their performance:
- List of active processes: PID, name (e.g. DHCP Receive) along with performance statistic for each process such as: average CPU time, dynamically allocated memory, freed memory, number of invocation times and others.
- List of memory pools with detailed statistics for each pool such as: status (valid/invalid), used and available bytes and largest available continuous memory block.
- Hardware monitors for: temperature, fans and power supplies.
- Detailed CPU usage statistics
Predefined Cisco Switch monitoring templates
The plugin contains predefined templates for most commonly monitored Cisco Switch items. Most important, selected templates are provided in the table below (other, additional sensors and performance counters can be added by the user):
